Vitamin B12 Injections

B12 Injections are a quick, effective and safe way of restoring vitamin B12 levels in your system. It is found naturally in animal products, such as meat, fish, poultry, eggs, and dairy. However, some people may not get enough vitamin B12 from their diet, or they may have a condition that prevents them from absorbing vitamin B12 properly. This can lead to a vitamin B12 deficiency. The shot can be given intramuscularly every four to eight weeks to maintain a healthy level of the vitamin in your body.

What are the risks of Low B12?
 

Vitamin B12 is an essential nutrient that helps the body make red blood cells and keep the nervous system healthy. A deficiency in vitamin B12 can lead to a variety of symptoms, including:

  • Fatigue

  • Weakness

  • Pale skin

  • Lightheadedness

  • Dizziness

  • Numbness or tingling in the hands and feet

  • Trouble concentrating

  • Shortness of breath

Who can receive B12 injections?

Anyone can receive a B12 injection unless you are allergic to cyanocobalamin or cobalt, or if you have Leber's disease.

B12 injections are the most effective way for your body to absorb B12 vitamins. They are quick-acting and start working instantly. Your body will start developing new red blood cells within 48 hours.

However, if you have a major deficiency, you may need 2-3 shots to notice the results. The effects of the vitamin shots will last for 7-10 days.

Any potential risks?

Vitamin shots are typically painless, but some people may experience mild discomfort or swelling at the injection site. Itching is also a possibility. Rarely people describe nausea in the hours following the injection.

These injections are indeed vegan. Keeping optimal levels of vitamin B12 on vegan and vegetarian diets can be tricky and so regular injections are a great option to maintain your health.

Vitamin D

Vitamin D is is essential for many bodily functions, including bone and heart health and immune system function. The vitamin D injection is commonly called the Sunshine Shot as we receive much of our functioning vitamin D from the sun’s rays. People can therefore become deficient quickly if they live in colder climates with less sunshine. A quick and easy vitamin D injection into the muscle can be given every three months to maintain healthy levels and a healthy body.

What are the risks of low vitamin D?

A deficiency in vitamin D can lead to a number of symptoms including

  • Muscle weakness

  • Fatigue

  • Recurrent infections

  • Poor wound healing

  • Numbness or tingling in the hands

  • Poor sleep

  • Hair loss

  • Depression and anxiety

In some cases, a vitamin D deficiency can also lead to more serious complications, such as:

  • Osteoporosis: This is a condition in which bones become weak and brittle, increasing the risk of fractures.

  • Heart disease: Vitamin D deficiency may increase the risk of heart disease by raising blood pressure and cholesterol levels.

  • Cancer: Some studies have suggested that vitamin D deficiency may increase the risk of certain types of cancer, such as colon cancer and breast cancer.

It is important to note that not everyone with low vitamin D levels will experience symptoms. Some people may have no symptoms at all, even if their levels are very low.

Why a vitamin D injection?

Approximately 20% of the UK are deficient in vitamin D. However, a considerable amount more has insufficient levels for optimal body health. An injection is a safe and easy way to receive an important vitamin which is difficult to maintain at good levels in the UK. Injections into the muscle are also faster acting than their tablet counterpart.

Who can receive vitamin D injections?

Vitamin D injections are as safe as their tablet counterpart. Please do contact our team if you are pregnant or suffer with any conditions related to your kidneys, heart or parathyroid gland. You should not have a vitamin D shot if you have high levels of calcium or already high levels of vitamin D or if you are allergic to vitamin D in any of its forms.
